MTN Black Friday Discussions

Oh yeah!!!
For some reason my R499 500GB 36 month contract that me and many others got in November 2020 has expired in 2yrs and not 3. I finally got hold of a guy at Retentions that knew what was what and he upgraded me on the spot to the current BF deal that's cheaper and has more data, he was initially puzzled because I was wanting to know how much early cancellation or upgrade would cost. Thank goodness I decided to try "early" upgrade to this package.

This is the deal:
My MTN choice 400gb 600gb + 600GB night
R349pm 36 months with 30 day carry over and datashare on the 400gb base data
Contract ID 2022164 CT 00011 CVM SAVES BF

I got the email of the guy that sorted me out, very helpful and on the ball: keerath.jagarnath(at)mtn.com

And there is also an option of My MTN choice 400gb 500gb + 500GB night R299pm
 
Anyone that has the 2020 R499 500GB 36 month contract deal I suggest you email that guy or call retentions and see if you can upgrade to the My MTN choice 400gb 600gb + 600GB night at R349
@I.am.Sam and anyone else who has this deal mention people you know has this deal because it was just luck that I decided to look in here and saw the 600GB deal.

My deal code was 2022164 CT 00010 CVM SAVES BF that was loaded for my one contract. Note your is 11, and the pro Rata amount that was loaded is on 400gb, not 600gb, ie 400gb/30days x 6days)
Also I was quote R299 x 36 months for this, so im still waiting for their call back.

I couldn't get any black friday deal as I don't have an existing Mtn contract for long enough. Anyone willing to share data to my MTN number and I could pay them for it?

Should it state on the contract the contract name and the amount of GB?
Mine just has the deal ID and nothing more.

How do I work out how much pro-rata data I should have if it's the 600GB deal?
I don't really even know when it rolls over to be honest, it's not on the 1st that it happens

The docs dont show whats been loaded, only the deal code yes.
I called MTN business yesterday afternoon after i tried to share the pro rata data. A lady there checked on their system and explained what's been loaded on each of the 3 x contacts.

I checked my old 2020 contract now and it's definitely 36 months, weird.
The guy specifically said my contract had expired which if it was 24 months would be correct because I signed the contract in 2020 in November

Try to self-RICA again on the MTN app under the menu on the far right

I bought 2 prepaid SIM's at an MTN store last week - they RICA'd both instore with my ID and proof of address - one worked in router after 24 hours; the other just kept giving "No Network".

did the self-RICA on the app and then the SIM started working and received the SMS:
"welcome to the MTN network and your new number is 063 ... .... please restart your device and dial *136# to activate"

also, even if the data sim will be in a router for the rest of its life, for activation put it into a phone - it is just so much easier for receiving the OTP from the MTN app etc etc
 
You guys that try early upgrade please let us know how it goes.
It's very unusual for them to get the contract duration wrong, it'll be interesting to see on how many contracts it'll be possible.

I paid R151 early upgrade fee. Contract was due to expire next Nov.

yep agree

the prices have gone up but the data has been good

at the time of taking out contracts nothing came close

now only voda came to the party but the risk with voda is they dont do data share and with mtn i get proper speeds

the other day my phone picked up 5g ...had over 200mb DL speeds
