My 02/12/2020 BF upgrade shows the next upgrade 14/07/2023. Maybe that is the early upgrade date, but is still 4.5 months ahead of Nov 2023 BF.

That's the normal upgrade date. Upgrade is a couple of months before expiry.

i took it, cant see if shareable, as only kicks in on the 13th. But sure it wont be shareable...
 
I’m on the 400+400 expiring next November and wanted to upgrade to the 600+600

Was told :

R1600 upgrade fee
R2400 cancellation fee

I just got lucky then, not sure how but I’m not complaining.
I wonder why they quoted you so high because there’s no device linked to the contract. And why would they want to bill you a cancellation and upgrade fee or was it one or the other?

Because I asked how much it would cost to cancel it instead.
 
Yeah i have a 2020 sim only My MTNChoice 50GB data deal valid till 2023, and they want to charge me a R2088 upgrade fee, not sure what the cancellation fee is.
was hoping for the 400GB BF deal.
eish - why does a data sim have such a huge penalty?

Something is wrong with these numbers. MTNs policy is that cancellation attracts a one month penalty.

Yeah, i don't know. It is BS...

The only thing I can think of is there 36 month contracts have non-disclosed T&C's or that the 36 month contract does not fall into the CPA, as perhaps only 24 month contracts are mentioned, so they can do what they want?

It's weird. And inconsistent. I took an early upgrade 24 months into a 36 month contract and they charged me R151

Mine was 36 months and I only paid a R158 early cancellation penalty...
