MTN Black Friday Discussions

MTN Black Friday (2020) customer here.

Just a note, the R299 (70GB) and R399 (200GB) "Mobile internet" contracts (basically what was previously know as "My MTN Choice") is available via the MTN app. You go to the "Profile" tab at the bottom, then "Plan", then "Upgrade".

Last when I checked, these are not visible if you sign in to the website.

I'm also waiting for BF though. The sales rep who phoned me to ask if I want to upgrade said she'll phone me as soon as she gets the BF deal info (likely a week before it's made public) so I can decide. I'll post the details here if that happens.

What website can you sign into to check your contract?

Ok I just finished a call with MTN retentions department where I was advised to change my contract temporarily to avoid the R4000 bill and then he will contact me when the Black Friday deals come through and will upgrade to them.

Change it to what contract?

Was some 100GB contract, I was sure to make sure that I could upgrade when the new Black Friday deals come out next month.

Is it thus a month-to-month contract you upgraded to as a temporary measure? I'm considering switching to 70GB Mobile Internet package on a month-to-month basis until I know the BF deals.

You can only manage contract via the app from what I can see. I was referring to the normal mtn.co.za site - it doesn't seem to list the "Mobile Internet" range of packages (could've missed it).

I don't think so but I was sure to emphasize that I must be able to upgrade next month when the Black Friday deals come out and was assured I would be able to.

Be careful, those retention department agents will tell you any old sht to get you to sign on, does the contract document specifically say month to month?

Haven't been sent a contract document and it will be very clear in the recording what was said.

Oh yes, the recording, if only they gave 2 shts about the recording.
Never mind the 6 months it'll take to get them to acknowledge the mistake, then you'll start the next chapter of convincing them to actually rectify the issue.

I'm 10 months into resolving the cock up retentions made of my last upgrade and still no end in sight despite it being the most basic of issues.

So which contract did you have that’s going to be 4K?

Tried to uncancel my cancellation in-store but was told it’s unpossible.

Will try over the call center.

I had somebody call me to offer me a new deal because my current was ending. But i wasnt able to chat. Anybody know who to contact?

Last time the good deals were only available to new customers and not existing BFers
