Tried taking this one, but the lady from retentions said I should wait for official release of BF deals to circumvent the upgrade fee

It was a lie after all. Retentions called today and said I am still going to pay the upgrade fee and I called the lady a liar and asked to port to prepaid and she transferred me to who I presume is her boss and told her the same thing and she hung up on me!

lots of companies dont use inhouse people

Did mine over the phone, confirmed ID and did standard security checks: ie which of the following companies do you have a personal loan with, which address have you previously lived at, etc.

10 mins later upgrade done

I upgraded last week,

The external companies still call.

They will even call after you upgrade through MTN/retentions directly - it happened to me.

Those are a waste of time, and their countdown still shows launching at midnight, so I hope there are others.
So many seem to only want sim deals. Looking for a phone and contract.... iPhone 15 pro Max, but there are zero specials anywhere worth anything. May just end up buying one privately and dropping the contract to a very low sim deal I guess. They don't seem to be trying very hard.
