I had the same price threatening and contract ending the 11 the last two upgrades I did so 4 years. Last time I ended up upgrading to some other contract before the 11th and then payed a penalty when I proceeded to upgrade two weeks later to a better Black Friday deal.

I wanted to do that but MTN is so useless I couldn't get a straight answer as to whether that would be allowed or not.
On this contract I really need a good BF data deal so I didn't want to chance it.
The issue really is that retention's isn't actually a department of MTN it’s a 3rd party that they subcontract to and they are clueless, they pretty much will tell you whatever you need to hear whether it's true or false just to get you to sign the contract.

Yeah, twice I've had to have higher ups review the recording of what was said and promised by retentions and both times they honoured it, you just have to be clear and almost repeat things so that it's in the recording.

It is a pain to get to someone who can sort it out for you and quite stressful.

Indeed just the upgrade itself is a potential nightmare, I didn't want that pain doubled, I always get the agent to repeat everything back at me at least three times during the call so there's no way they can wiggle out of anything.
It’s very weird how MTN farms out retentions and then doesn't hold them accountable for anything.
 
So retenstions claim of the 150gb on the below 70gb is shareable and on the 200gb one all 200gb is shareable. Does that sound right.

Those reading this thread, when did your previous years BF contracts expire and when will your current BF contract expire, before or after BF?

Something definitely smells funny considering all my previous BF contracts(I've renewed the same number probably 3 or 4 times now on BF)all expired on a date after BF so upgrading them on BF was never an issue, but my current BF contract that was signed on Dec 1 expired 2 days ago 2 weeks before BF.

I have 3 of those Retention BF contracts. 1st one started on 29 November 2023, and contract ended on 11 November 2025. According to MTN they are correct. I therefore just renewed it with a 3 month @ R49 contract with retentions, to avoid the R1700 bill. Cancelation is not an option because they want 30 day notice.

2nd contract started on 23 November 2023, according to MTN, ends on 11 November 2026, not 23 November 2026.

3rd contract, same as 2nd.

It's quite evident that they want us out of these BF Retention deals. I might just cancel the 1st contract after the 3 month period.

Mobile internet copper
They told me it's 10GB anytime data @ R49 x 3 months.

Some of my data carried over from my old My Choice contract so I will only be able to really see on the 12 December.

I'm surprised that they even offered you these @ retentions.

Whenever I asked about any package on the website, retentions says they do not offer that. It was strictly just the few I posted on a few posts above.

What a mess this was. There was no way to get to speak to a champion to get an upgrade or a new contract, even though the voice prompts pointed to speak to one.

That's because MTN changed the Data Share terms for the Business/Enterprise Customers a few months back due to abuse, and other such reasons. So, Even if a deal comes with 1TB data, only 50GB will be shareable. So, When comparing Business with Personal deals, always keep that in mind. At the moment Personal Deals have no capping except the bonus data (which is non-shareable).

That's the 15GB and 500 minutes deal.

These contracts are fine, even with the slight increases.

The high data packages {my choice} are the ones affected with exorbitant increases
