MTN buying Afrihost?

Everyone jumping to conclusions. Afrihost could keep its independence and nothing changes except who the dividends cheques get signed to.

Nah, when they switched over to mtn-business I thought that's pretty crap, because MTN cannot get most of the basic things rights. I dont even care whether it works out ok. I dont deal with MTN.

When they sign... I cancel.

And so the duopoly continues to make strides to cornering the market yet again.

Perhaps we should concede what certain people have been saying all along?
There's just no space for a multitude of operators.

For MTN, AfriHost must've looked very appealing with Axxess under their banner too.
Will Gian stay on after this rumoured sale is concluded? Or just take the cash and start a new venture?

Interesting times ahead.

I am not liking this, but it explains all the network problems Afrihost has been having :P

I will jump ship, the question is to who?

Yeah, looks like vodacom and mtn know telkom is as good as dead in the landline scene and are moving in for the kill.

So waiting in the news that vodacom is buying web africa...

DD/IS would be the player that buys WA, not VC...

Just requested transfer of my line back to hellkom.

MTN? - I got rid of them long ago, their customer service suck! I had to resort to hellopeter twice to get responses from them.

I will keep my options open but if they take over the administration, I will be actively on the lookout for a new line and service provider.

Afrihost has effectively been an MTN wholesale reseller for years already. They don't have their own network, they never have. Afrihost is so dependent on MTN as it is I don't see how this deal will change much aside from who the majority shareholder will be.
