MTN Careconnect R300 / hour

you won't talk to them for an hour.

A doctor charges over R300 for your visit (can't remember if it's 10 or 15 min)

so in that view it can be cheaper especially if you only need over the counter meds..

Still, it's R5 a minute! In the time you call them, there will guaranteed communication issues and misunderstandings... and no chance to show anything - it's basically a listening service with a nurses opinion on the other end for R300 an hour. The success of the call will rely heavily on your ability to communicate the problem properly.

This can't be compared with a visit to your GP! :)

Can't compare no.

They do have it in all 11 official languages so that should at least help avoid the language being a barrier.
