MTN contract renewed without my consent

Email from Ackermans, how fking scary is this:

Thank you for taking the time to raise your concerns with Tenacity and for the documentation you have provided.

Unfortunately you have been a victim of identity theft and we are currently investigating and in the process of removing the specific Ackermans incident from your credit profile and closing the account.

We have a period of 20 working days to finalise your dispute. A request has been sent to all major credit bureaus to have the listing removed from your profile.

We have contacted Ackermans Fourways where the account was opened and activated, refer to attached application form.

Tenacity Financial Services is a registered credit provider under the National Credit Act. The NCA prescribes certain requirements for the Credit provider before it can accept and assess an application for credit. The National Credit Act, does not require a copy of ID or payslip to be submitted by the consumer in order to assess an application for credit, neither does it stipulate that the credit provider has to receive proof of residence before assessing an application.

Due to the fact that this is not a prescribed requirement to assess an application, we did not request a copy of address or a copy of payslip. With regards to the process we follow with new applications we ensure that we adhere to the guidelines stipulated by the NCA.

This is bad, sorry to hear OP :(

Ackermans has a very bad policy for opening accounts then...for shame!

Good luck in clearing your name! Also would it maybe be worth getting the MTN branch to send out an e-mail to the other branches informing them to look out for this suspect? I doubt he will try his luck again, but just maybe one of the branches has seen him before?

Good luck once again

thx will do, i see there is a site where one can register for further protection of ID theft, linked from SARS website

http://www.safps.org.za/index.aspx
Yes you can flag it as cloned.

Do note that this will make it a **major** mission for you to get any type of credit in future. i.e. It companies will see that ID has been flagged as cloned and will require a truckload of extra documentation before approving anything. Should keep additional ID theft at bay...but comes at the cost of more hassle.
