Hi

I'm having a problem with my mtn data connection for some time now (Few months now). I would connect to my GPRS/EDGE/3G and browse the net on my phone. But if I leave it for some time +- 4 hours and try to browse again it just says locating (DNS Lookup). It almost seems as if the ip gets released but doesn't get a new one. The only way I can get it to work again is to disconnect and reconnect. This happened on my old Imate Jamin and now on my new TyTN2.

Any tips would really be appreciated as this is really irritating.

Thanks

I get this problem from time to time.. it seems to be intermittent.. I've not had it for a while now..

When I do get it though, I do as Saule suggested above, a continuous ping, I usually set it up to ping something like google every 5 seconds or so.
Keeps the connection alive and even over very extended periods the data use is very minimal..

I have the same problem with my HTC S310. I never had it on any other phone. What I do it I either disconnect the data connection, or I reinstall the settings. You can get it as an installable .cab file from leaf.co.za.

I'm not too keen on setting something like that up on my phone, would mean that my battery life would drop quite a bit.

Does your phone not charge while connected to the pc?

In any event that too ie. continuous charging does have a negative impact on battery life.

The data connection will hang up when the phone is not connected to any pc ie when I browse directly on the phone etc.
