MTN explains HTC Flyer contract terms

I must say MTN are currenty head and shoulders above everyone else whe it comes to bang for your buck contracts.
Enough is enough.I've decided to jump ship from Vodacom.

Oh, makes sense, That's even better. so that means 200MB of Data the first 12months with only 50MB the last 12months. well, at least that's enough to peak @ mybroadband once a month if you're not at home using the WiFi at home!

that sucks y are providers still taking us for a ride like this
i mean providers overseas give u 900 mins and 30gigs and 500 sms a month for about
R350 so i think the least they can do is give the 150mb for 24months its not like they giving us 1gb like they suppose to be doing by now.

i think the competition commission should check them for collusion the evil bastards:twisted:

Hi guys

Just a question, why would you want airtime with the Flyer, it can't make voice calls as far as I know?

so tru i have as well and there service has dropped since the rebrand = go figure
they answer the phones faster but alas thats where it ends
like they stilling debiting me for a contract that was stopped 4 months ago and no one knows what is going on and why it is happening like really now how well is that ship being run if the ass doesn't know what the head is doing

WesleyR,

simbao53 and the article explains its use - airtime that is used as data.

Very decent price, but just like vodacom they ripping the public off with (150mb-pm c'mon).
Hopefully 8ta comes with something cheaper or maybe a 1gbX24

Peace "B"

why bother, after the 24months the tablet will be obsolete, to get an idea check out the phones that came out mid 2009 :) :)

exactly my sentiments we should be getting that by now !!!!

That's seriously horrid! Wid my iPhone 4 on talk275 i think, every second or 3rd month I purchase 2.3Gb for r389. I only pay r379pm for the contract(vodacom) and build up my airtime.

I've had endless issues with MTN and jumped to Vodacom but at the end of the day they all as bad as each other. I do believe we are getting ripped off with data and call charges. I laugh when they say we have 1st world infrastructure only to follow it up by saying SA has cheap telcom prices compared to other 3rd world counties.

maybe i should try 8TA as cell c admin is up to crap and when their network is busy then the quality drops on cell networks
but then i'm gonna help the monopoly again damnit what do i do ????????????
i jumped from mtn to vodacom and now i'm jumping from vodacom into the Abyss ???? what to do what to do?

Yes, one of the UK providers is asking for an R2k upfront fee for the Flyer but on the subsequent R280pm contract they give you...15GB data per month. Wow, imagine buying a device that you actually then get to use as it was intended

It's really trying to make a choice of the best of a bad bunch. I will never support MTN again so that's out. My mate got an iPhone through MTN and the networks hangs and needs to be reset. He had a 30 minute argument with them because they said he needs to re-seat the battery lol. He even spoke to the manager who said he has to re-seat the battery. So they have no clue. I also hate their Rand value attached to contracts, I much prefer free minutes.

Vodacom I haven't had any problems but they are not cheap. Cell C I haven't heard good things about coverage and quality but haven't used them myself. Lastly 8ta I cannot comment as I haven't heard anything negative or positive about them. I guess time will tell though.

I think pick the package that suites you and your budget the best but I feel you need to prepare for frustrations with whoever you choose. At the end of the day we all need a cellphone and I wish the choice was there to not to use any of them.

I'm skipping 7" and going straight for the 10" Android bad boys...

7" is just to small I think. Might as well just stick with your smartphone...

Next year Samsung will release their folding OLED screens, so any tab can fold in half like Sony's S2... Now that would be a cool compromise between size and functionality!

You would think that for R299/month they could give their customers 200MB of data for 24 months. It's amazing that we were paying extremely high prices for bandwidth when ADSL was released now we have uncapped for next to nothing. Cell phone providers have charged us R2 per MB since GPRS and are still charging us R2 per MB. Something is fishy.

50 megs - pfft!

and after a year they'll release a statement that says "usage on our network has shown that the median data consumption is around 50 megs thus proving that our offering was spot on for market demands"

sick of our greedy data providers
