Re Magic - I would miss my keyboard too much. The dream is really a cool phone and the dev environment is pretty awesome too. Using two thumbs for text and email is alot easier lol.

The Iphone SUCKS for lack of apps. I love Imeem on the G1 - listen to internet radio over wifi while gymming - easy to get hooked.

Android as it should be known, will probably supercede the iPhone, the Iphone OS can only run on apple devices, Android can run on any phone hardware, provided the phone manufacturer developes the required hardware for the phone.

At the moment HTC are the only ones who have released a phone, it will only be a matter of time for the others to bring out there model.

However, Nokia seem to be holdink back, given they have their symbian OS, and I would imagine they are waiting in the wings to see how well android does before commiting themselves.

It should also be noted that, while the iphone 3g sold 3 million units in its first month and Android has only done 1 million todate, there has not been much advertising for the Android phone yet. I think that once they come out of the Beta testing phase and release the 'G2' we will see more networks adopting and promopting the phone. In fact we probably should not even compare the 'G1' to the Iphone 3G seeing as the how the '3G' was the second incarnation of the iphone and was rideing on that success of the first.

Time will tell.

Network exclusivity is harming consumer rights and opens the field for price fixing between the makers and the distributors. It is extremely anti competitive.

Not since late 2007/early 2008. I am using a N82 and it runs blazingly fast on a rather slow ARM11 (332Mhz).

oh, one more thing Android has going for it, J2ME.

Most phones have supported java applications with J2ME for years and while android doesnt run J2ME ( I think) , it does allow developers to continue developing in Java and maybe make it easier to port applications over.

Must say, the my 5800 feels positively pedestrian compared to my Storm and iPhone. For example turning the 5800 from portrait to landscape (or the other way) takes a good second or two before the screen switch. Highly irritating.

But I guess the 'fruit companies' know a thing or two about user interfaces.
