MTN grows broadband network capacity

I think it is a bit ironic that they release this on the day the data network goes down.

152 million subscribers !!!! That must surely put them as among the largest in the world. With that kind of subscriber base, I would think that they would be leading the pack in bringing affordable data to the population. However, the opposite is true - we see them grudgingly lowering data costs, only after others have made the initiative.
Here in SA, the leader that is showing initiative and providing us, the users, lower data prices is Cell C - and for their courage and commitment to give us affordable data, we need to give them our full support

Rip Off, Indeed !!! So happy that Cell C HSPA is working quite well in this area since recently. Spent almost as much for half a year on a crappy EmptyN Prepaid USB dongle, only with EDGE as I paid for one year on Cell C R1499 promotional 24Gb offer.

MTN South Africa has also embarked on a pilot long term evolution (LTE) network which consists of 100 LTE-capable base stations.

I presume they won't call it a 4G network? ;)

152 million -1

coz today i'm leaving them as my contract expires today, chow emptyn....i'm sure cell c will be happy to have one more customer.

Rip offs!!!!!!
Lol i own MTN shares. They don't care about ZA, as you can small piece of the pie. They making money as Africa's largest mobile network. :) buy their shares mate but lose the contract.

Lol surprisingly I already do,well my wife does anyway so its a win situation when they ripping us off as we get more dividends but still there are ways to make money and still give consumers what they want, right now they are just milking sa as i believe they have excellent rates in kenya etc.......
