About 10k here for a 16GB model, so a little cheaper yes. However most of the phones here are locked to a network and needs to be unlocked. The cost of that is an extra 1k just about and waiting time as well for the unlock codes from the network provider. Its just much less hassle to upgrade my contract when I get back and have a phone that is unlocked already.

Yip, makes sense. Seems UK is one of the few countries that still lock their phones to a network. Even the US is moving away from this lock model.

Correct, in SA however I believe we've made it illegal for the operators to lock their phones. Many years ago now too...

If you buy from a carrier. When you buy the phone for the full cash price from Apple it is completely unlocked.
 
Damn and I'm due for an upgrade now on my last MTN contract, although I was planning to cancel it...this is too tempting!

When did you pre-register, I did on the 5th!!!
Hope they call soon, I am going away next week for 3 weeks, and wont be close to any civilization.
 
So i had a call now.. i suspect it was MTN callcentre person who didnt want to actually talk to me haha i just hear call centre music from 0830110200 <-- what number is that? Is that MTN..

Then i got a lazy Call centre person who is just dialling the number and then putting you on hold.. I held on for 3 minutes then gave up as I am outside of Sa.

Ordered a grey 64GB model 6s, R559 on choice 100
Not bad, they say will deliver either Friday or Monday

Nice, congrats!! I wasn't far off with my guesstimate. R70 more than the 16gb over 24 months equates to R1680... Not bad at all...

Not bad. Think I will get this deal.

I wish there was a way to call MTN stores and find out if they have stock rather than driving around.
