Well.... I ported my number from vodacom specifically for this contract. The contract is a good deal, Mtn does have stock.
I signed up on Wednesday, 12 January. On Friday morning, 14 January, I phoned mtn to find out about the progress. The lady then said that they were waiting for confirmation from Vodacom. I then phoned Vodacom only to find out that the information received from mtn was completely wrong and therefore could not go forward with the porting. I gave them the right information and that same night received a sms (from vodacom) stating that the porting process from vodacom was successful.
On monday, I phoned Mtn and the representative assured me that it will take 2 - 24 hours for porting to be successful. HA HA HA...... 12, YES, 12 days later and finally it's sorted. Now, the biggest frustration wasn't waiting to become a mtn customer, it was that my vodacom sim card did not work anymore and the mtn didn't either.
After huge arguments, alot of calls from a telkom number (did not have mtn number for free customer support) and explaining the same damn thing over and over, I finally have my number on the mtn network tonight, 24 January. I would not recommend porting to mtn at all. It was a painful process and cost me alot of money making calls from telkom number to mtn customer service. I am not a happy customer!!
