This is why I left MTN a few years ago. I was with them form years waiting for them to compete. But they never even tried to compete or get into a price war.
I eventually ported to Cell C who was aggressively driving down prices by actually competing. Sadly I had to port to Vodacom due to their terrible network quality. While Vodacom is no better at competing than MTN, the never really needed to compete as they were on top and their nr 1 competition(MTN) never really pushed them.
I blame MTN for Vodacom's high prices because if MTN had competed on price both Vodacom and MTN's prices would be lower.
It just shocks me that with competition from Afrihost, Cell C and Telkom, MTN launches products prices like this as if they are the only provider in the country.
