MTN network slow/down since Friday?

I have just come back from Pretoria and I cannot believe how dead MTN 3G was there. it was actually unusable. No internet most of the time.

Does anyone know what is going on? I can't get through to the call center, and it's been over a week and a half now.

It's strange because I can upload data like Whatsapp messages but can't download anything, webpages stop loading as soon as they encounter a picture.

I had a discussion with a colleague today who also lives in Eldoraigne - he was complaining about dropped calls and that he cannot even call his house. It seems something is wrong with either a Telkom cable to the towers in the Centurion area or something wrong on MTN's own network if that feeds the towers.

Where I stay I use MTN access on my iPad 3. Although I have an 8TA sim in the iPad I roam for data on MTN. I am extremely impressed with the speeds - down 14.2 Mbps and 2.45 Mbps up.

MTN BIS also extremely slow and signal used to be Full 3G now keeps dorpping on 1 bar 3G then EDGE then GPRS then GSM and going back and forth...

MTN as horrible as Usual, they DON'T care about there clients it seems they never will, they only care about money from the looks of things. But good, let them continue as they are, so we all move to another Provider.

Mtn has been giving these problems for a week and still today its still as terrible as ever, in fact it's just getting worse.

But do they care?
Will they help if you call them and tell them there is network issues?
Will they even try to fix there network issues and towers?
Will you ever go back to mtn even if they fix the towers?

Why? Because mtn don't do anything to fix it, work on it, no status updates to let clients know. NOTHING, cheat us with contracts, cheat us with bandwidth we can't use, expect us to pay a hell of a lot for your crappy service and in the end. You call yourself a Giant Provider?

Well guess what, you are a Giant pain in my backside, and im done, i will never use your terrible service ever again.

And for notice:

You're LTE service will be even worse then your 3G why? Because you don't even know what a stable network is.

Seems like as of yesterday MTN is back online finally. Webpages load and Speedtest runs at much the same speeds as it did before this whole disaster.

Nope, still broken as usual, constant ping request timeouts.
Doesn't work properly, no stable connection.
Just as terrible as it was.

BIS seems slightly better, signal @ Full 3G most of the time...

my connection is still sucking - im on MTN 3g and i usually get magnificent speeds, but this weekend, i know 80yr olds who walk faster.

Ok, this is really getting out of hand.Had to refresh the speedtest page 5 times before i could enter.

So after having my normal signal/service back for about a week, it seems that MTN is screwed again. Webpages refuse to load and FB just shows updating the whole time. Can I cancel my contract because of this? Surely this is breach of contract!

Posting on this thread again and I've finally figured out how MTN works on my phone now. Every second day the internet/FB/emails don't work, with almost no speeds shown on Speedtest. Then the next day everything will be back to normal asif nothing happened.

If appears to me that the MTN network doesn't work on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and possibly the weekend in both the Edenvale and Rosebank areas (could be other areas but haven't been travelling much recently). Can't wait until December when I'm rid of the rubbish known as MTN from my life!
