I had a data contract with MTN and got one of their laptop deals about September 2013. I decided not to continue with the contract after the 24 month period and phoned their customer care 10 October 2015 and let them know that I wanted to switch the contract to pay as you go. I got a reference number for that and was told that it would end at the end of November.

I went through my bank statements and see MTN is still debiting my account at the end of February. This is surely fraud? I asked for my contract to be terminated or go to PAYG because I didn't need/use it any more.

I don't have a MTN phone and I'm not going to phone their customer care and hold an hour to do this, so I went into their shop in the Grove. They had a look and logged some sort of whatever it was, but it's still not resolved.

Where is the best place to go to log a complaint against MTN for this fraudulent activity? This is bull and totally unacceptable, why must I keep trying to sort their problems at my expense? This is not right and I will not stand for this.

Thanks

Never ascribe to malice that which can be explained by incompetence.

Go to your bank and have the debit orders reversed. If MTN contact you, give them the reference number.

You're absolutely correct. I wasn't happy to see their debit again, possibly made the wrong assumptions. **note to self - never assume
