Just downloaded Counter Strike 3 days ago; connected online. and I'm wondering why my ping is so high?
I'm always the odd one out with ping over 700. Get kicked everytime, and it's barely playable.

I'm getting a signal of -81 dBm on MDMA. So m downloads are lighting fast.

I'm not downloading anything whilst on CS; disabled auto updates, and all Internet usages, yet my ping decides to sky rocket everytime.

Been playing for about 3 days now.

What can I do?

3G up tp 384Kbps right?
No.
I'm on HSDPA. My average downloads is 3500Kbps (~450KB/s).
My laptop specs are on my signature.

No. International. How do I find local ones?

Lol :D, if I'm looking for local ones; inherently I'm looking for guys with 700ms? :D

Eish, you're playing on a Ukrainian server there, that will explain your high ping.
When on Find Servers, click on Filter on the bottom and set the Location to Africa, that should bring up all the local servers.

All African servers I've connected to show ".ru."

Anyways I've tried about 20, still my ping is too high, how ever I've managed to hover around 550 for a while...

I'll keep trying, but it looks bleak.

Strange, this is what I get when I select Africa as the region:

Tried placing modem in pot; I'm at least getting a playable 450.

LoL, 450 isn't really playable. Keep looking for local servers, you will get better pings there. You can also go to SGS and Igame and get the IPs to their servers from their website and join it that way.

Go to the various local gaming sites and get the IP addresses for the servers. Add them to your list and voila.
