Hi there

Just received the following text message from +278393003362006

Yello! MTN has restored your unlimited service on BlackBerry Absolute. Your service will not expire once your 200MB fair use allowance is used up. Continue to enjoy a World-class experience with MTN on you BlackBerry. T&C's apply. Please reply STOP to opt-out.

So is it legit?

That msg looks fake. Why would MTN ask you to "Please reply STOP to opt-out".

that doesn't make sense. Somebody messing around and this would most likely add extra data cost to your account.

True, but then again, it might just be MTN...being MTN.

If this was fake, how would the perps know you have an active BB Absolute plan (and not any of the lesser ones). If this was fake, then you'd think that they'd send the message to tons of MTN users, even those without BlackBerries, and that some of the users would've brought it to light.

No, I think this is just another F'UP by MTN and they are too embarrassed to admit it.

See this.

I did link to exactly that article in my previous post... Plus, that article was published a day after this thread was created.

Trying to keep the cash cow of blackberry going now that BBM is coming to Android and iOS

It is possible. I estimate my usage on BIS to be around 1GB and my wife's around 600MB and we haven't been charged extra so far.
