MTN slashed its broadband costs

I'm disappointed that they did not include the Out-Of-Bundle subscribers. R1.50 or even R1 per MB would have been better:)
 
MTN not cutting edge

The dissapointement here is that the average consumer will never use 2 Gigs of data, so in my mind this is more of a marketing ploy which will benefit the very high end of the market and not the lower end. I believe most users need only 200-300 megs of data and these costs have not changed much. Its also sad that it took MTN so long to achieve this, in which time they have lost the vast majority of the market and certainly any valuable partners which they still dont address. The last point is whether there is an option to have multiple sim cards on these bundles as you can get from IS allowing you aggregation capability to ensure you can actually use 2 Gigs without downloading a movie?

Strange you say that, i often go to my friends house (observatory which is virtually a stone throw away from pinelands) and i get full signal HSDPA there with excellent P2P speeds (region of 100-120Kb/s)

Well you'll be surprised how much a consumer will use up once they have so much to play with but you are right in it benefitting the high end user. Anyhoo the low end user probably just uses MTN as a source of mobility, and often than not has an alternate source of broadband so in essence what would be the point of lowering their prices (they not going to buy more data) Just my opinion

Secondly most users only need 200-300megs? i currently have 425 and struggle to keep behind the line. Costs has dropped, use to pay R299 for 350MB and now its dropped down to R220... thats a 26% drop (not small in my eyes)

350MB has been R220 for a while? Its even less now, can't remember what exactly though.

i'll never survive on 300 megs!? need at least few gigs!

Sure - if its your only broadband connection...

But I (like many others I'm sure) use my 3G as a backup or when i'm away from my other connections.
I've got a diginet line in the office, iBurst at home and a very decent hotspot at my local coffee shop.... theres no way I could manage to produce more than a few hundred megs of traffic in the times that i'm not covered by one of those connection :D

I dont have the coffee shop connection (dont want to sell my soul to the other devil (MWeb)), but I am in agreement. Datacard is for out of office use ... while on the road or at customers etc!! :)

Better spend the time responding to MTN's threats
