MTN Speed Test Results

Not too bad at all for the middle of the day.
I was a bit shocked to see that I was downloading mp3's (legally, my friends' band has them up for free download) and was clocking well over 300kbps - 6mb file in a matter of seconds.

Funny thing about this speedtest is that it picked me up from PE or EL :D
Nice!

thats amazing!

I guess no one is using the Tower? But 95% of the times it never goes below 250kbs download speed. That's why I can't understand why people complain with MTN. I have no complaint about speed. I will run another speed test 08:10pm tonight and post it here to confirm my speed. Imagine what speeds I will get if I have excellent network coverage? :D

So you reckon I get nice speeds. Vodacom doesn't even have 3G here only GPRS so I'm happy with the speeds I get from MTN :)

And ohh I'm connectable with MTN too. I just registered my MTN contract sim for MTN VPN and use the apn "MTNvpn" and make incoming ports "80" and wala. It allows incoming connections.

If I use my prepaid sim I get the same speeds with the "internet" and "myMTN" apn's but I'm no longer connectable.

@AirWolf No not really. Just something that is not allowed to be posted here :D

consistently get >4Mbps download, pity about the ping and upload
this is about the only place I've been able to get great speeds on MTN (although do get good down at the office in Lanseria too... uploads there bad too, so I guess MTN generally not great on ups)

voda here rocks on upload (way over 1.3Mbps) and pings (70-90ms), but only 2-2.5Mbps down

Go to Speedguide.net test your upload and download speeds there. I get download speed of over a 1200Mbit/s and uplink of over 382Kb/s and the connection was encrypted. The server was in the USA. The speeds I are slower than you would get if you run it through a proxy. To add my reception is weak 1 or 2 bars, Upgrade your modems firmware to the latest
