MTN Steppa Tablet versus Vodacom Smart Tab 3G

Wow, the Steppa far superior to the Smart Tab, actually very good value for money. Wish they used just a tad better camera...

Will be upgraded to 5.0 lollipop soon. The biggest difference will be the screen.

Yeah the Nexus is a far superior device. But seems like its Wifi only, where the Steppa has 3G. Only other better thing is the camer on the Steppa.
Must also be mentioned the Steppa is new device where the Nexus is a refurbished device.

It is 1000 you cant expect perfection at that price point, somethings got to give.

Phoned MTN today about these since they due to launch. Was told that their warehouse does not have stock and could only possibly get them in maybe 3 weeks. There goes that idea for xmas gift for the kids.

I wouldn't take what I hear from the helpful folks manning the helpline as the gospel truth, as experience has proven that they are the last to know about anything. Chances are that the device will be available according to original schedule.

Edgars had stock. Just strange that the one reviewed has the qualcomm logo and a silver rear bezel. One I saw was completely white and said Protez on the back. Wondering if they are actally the same devices now...

Decided that I might get the Asus Me175CG. The atom proc is on par qualcomm 200 proc that is in the Mtn steppa tablet. So for r300 more one gets a known branded tablet. Better res screen. Better sound, camera and double the storage plus probberbly better support for it as well.

@kyton: Where are you getting the Asus Me175CG from?

EDIT: Seems like Kalahari. You can probably get an additional R100 off with a coupon.

Thats it. Seems a better deal than the mtn one. Just worries me that all the preview units look different to the ones in store.

Seems like a bargin. R1199 using the 100 off vouchers. Think my kids are gonna be happy with these. Watched a vid of a guy playing nfs most wanted on it and played very smooth. Now I can do some battlefield commander assignments

That is a very good deal.Only issue i have with those are that its near impossible to root at the moment.
My sister got one a while ago,and i have yet to find a method to root although i haven't been looking very hard recently.

-Edit-
Looks like the chaps at XDA were able to root
