MTN subscribers exceed 80 million

I wonder what it will take MTN to topple Vodacom on home turf. They have had great success abroad but they local strategy is flawed it seems, what is it that they fail to make use of in SA?

And as for the share price...yoh, yoh yoh! :)

Vodacom has had better marketing over the years. Their slogan has always been Yebo Goggo, while MTN has changed theirs many times. Impressions stick in peoples minds.
People also generally remember Vodacom's ads more so than MTN's.

As far as i know mtn is miles ahead of vodacom through-out South africa, i thought they where the biggest cell phone company in africa.

amazing that mtn with 80m subscribers, still rips us off when they could afford to slash prices by 3/4 and get 120m clients.

I guess milking people is easier than coping with alot of subscribers.

Vodacom has ± 22 Milion subscribers in SA
MTN has ± 15 Million in SA
Cell C has ± 5 million
