MTN systems downtime

MTN’s websites and some services are experiencing downtime, causing frustration for users and MTN shops

Due to a power failure at one of the data centers

Eish, not good news for people hosting stuff in their data centres.

Apparently they're still offline... madness. A mate has been trying to get a phone for 2 days... no go. Can't even deal with retentions cause they can't look anything up in the almighty 'system'.

Maybe this would be a reason to NOT choose the most expensive network in SA with the most complicated billing? To be fair all the networks are currently performing very badly, but you can at least reduce some of your other headaches on the billing side.

Cool story, though he has his reasons TO choose the most blah blah blah... anyway, shot for the advice, though let's try keep on topic without every mobile-related conversation spiraling into a CellC/8ta vs incumbent poo-slinging contest.

I tried to not specify a network here besides MTN, but make the point that MTN is generally very expensive and still has a lot of quality issues like the rest. If there is a good reason, sure, go for it - just see a lot of people getting duped by a "special" and then being stuck for 2 years.

Sorry if I was leading the thread off course.

Anyone have more info on the DC issue?
