MTN Uncapped Lite throttled since 2012/02/01

This is what I got just now. It varies, but this was the best result so far.

You're lucky! If its still like that....

all companies have the right to change and amend policies.whatever you signed for can be altered.read the contract.remember clauses include changing the way they do business.

Don't know what's going on but yesterday when I got home my connection started running at an average transfer of 80KB/s and then hitting 290KB/s for about an hour then dropped back to around 80KB/s for the next 12 hours and counting...

Can't be that they reset my 3gb as I did around 7gb :)

So I guess we should expect random results while they stabilise their QOS rules?

Right at this moment i'm doing 200kB/s on a torrent download.

Edit: Make that 280 kB/s

DUDE? WHAT THE HELL? CAPS? FOR WHAT?
They are suppose to do 3GB at full speed, and the rest at 256Kbps. Now they are reporting speeds in excess of 1Mbps. What's fine again there?

I'm fine with that.

Guys ive got the same problem, and the lady at the MTN store sold this to me and told me that its an uncapped contract! So I'm need to cancel as well. This is absolute Bull Shiat!!! I can't beleive we consumers are letting these big bullies get away with this...

Pls IM me, i would like to open a class action law suit against them and Im going to the NCC

Try log to ICASA first and ask them to arrange / settle on a cancellation of the contract with no penalty. Phone them frequently for follow ups to get quicker action.

I just did 10Gigs over night now. So I am way past the 3Gig limit.
Speeds averaged 200Kb/s.

OT...

I got a new lite contract yesterday. Got a sms to tell me it has been activated but when i do a balance check it still says 0 meg available?... Is this normal? Or is there another way to check balances?

Speeds averaged 200Kb/s.

Tested it again last night (midnight) and it's fast. 350Kb/s

I have noticed that day time is slowish (40Kb/s), however from around midnight it unleashes.

Was going to go for a " Lite " contract, think I'll give it a miss. To many inconsistent reports. i.e. I have lots of luck, mostly "bad" - so I'll let this lucky packet pass ...

I am happy with the concept of getting whatever maximum download speed, that my location supports.

But, I do expect to consistently achieve the minimum speed I get throttled to.
