You say your contract expired last month, did MTN contact you in any way? If so, what did they say? My contract will unfortunately expire at the end of July this year and I'm also a bit screwed after that.

When you get billed at the end of Feb, or whenever you do, will you please post here again just to confirm if everything remained the same. I will be EXTREMELY happy if one can continue with this contract on a month-to-month basis.

Good news. I got my first bill after being out of contract for one month. I used about 23GB and I was billed the same standard contract fee for Broadband Lite. There were no additional overage charges whatsoever. You can sign up at MTN Active to monitor your billing in real-time https://mycontract.mtn.co.za/landing/landing.htm

Is anyone experiencing problems connecting?

I've been having huge connection problems since Sunday. My router gets a signal but then loses it again. I cannot go online at all.

Might be the power clusterf#ck we're having at the moment.

Had a very good internet experience with it yesterday. But today it is a bit slower again. I get the problem where I have to power cycle the router every 2nd day or 2 times a day.

If i can make a suggestion. Makro sell's the huawei b68a For R1499. it also comes with a external 3G antenna. Works VERY good compared to a mifi device. If you get one just remember to disable the ipv6 DHCP server, by default IPV4/6 are both enabled and cocks up a DHCP network quite good.

Thanks! Yes, it does seem my router has had it's day, so time for a new one.

I see you are also in Pretoria East. If you want to check out the Huawei router in action before you buy you are more than welcome to do so. just drop a PM. :)

Thank you very much for the offer! I will definitely let you know. A friend of mine knows a guy who might be able to fix my router, so I'll first see how that goes.

I know you can't get this anymore, but for those still on it how much does it cost and how much data are you able to pull every month?

Mine is R270 a month, not sure where to look how much data I consume. The new Huawei Router makes that difficult. But if I want a new episode or movie I just cue it up and wait patiently at 30 to 40KB/s hehe.

Turns out I had a faulty sim card, nothing wrong with my router. Sorted now.

But thanks again for the offer.
