MTN Upgrades - No rewards

So I have been with MTN for many years now and every time I have upgraded my contracts I have not received any type of retention reward. Now someone else I know moved their contracts to Vodacom for the same reason and when upgrading 2 contracts they received like 4 devices with the upgrade and yes his spend is big, but so is mine. So the question is who from MTN do I or should I contact as I wouldn't want to move my contracts but I guess if that's the only way to actually get rewarded for my loyalty then that's what I'll have to do.

MTN Rep any comments?????????????????

I was actually thinking the same thing. With the new Galaxy S5 on the horizon, it's open season for my money. Been with MTN since 1999, first time I'm considering moving away from them, especially with their ramblings about VOIP.

Ja sure. I have been an MTN customer for over 10yrs. I am in the 22nd month of my current contact which if an anytime 350 contact with an R89 extra pay in each month as the handset fee. In total I pay R449/month. I want to downgrade to the my choice 100 with the LG G2. As my contact still has two months to run I fully expected to have to pay in the 2 * 89, but no MTN wants over R2000 for my "downgrade". That's more than I owe them if I paid the two months up front.

So their loyalty is going to get mine. Cheers MTN 10th may

So I have pm'd Voldemort, and have also tried calling retentions to ask about devices and nothing, nudda. When I told the retentions oke that I will then be moving to Vodacom he just said well then that will be a sad loss, so good riddance in other words.
The good thing is that Vodacom will be willing to give me the S5, gear fit, tablet and a Blackberry on the same spend that I normally spend with MTN.

Hi Sacheen

I initiated the process between the CEO's office and yourself, the discretion was up to them to allocate you a loyalty incentive. Id love to give everybody something along with a big thank you for staying with us, but sadly I don't make these descisions:(

After all the time with MTN, I'm considering moving for exactly the same reasons.

5 months to go after probably 15 years, then I can find a provider that really appreciate me

I am with with mtn for over 12 years. the only way to get rewarded is if you want to cancel then they will "try" and reward you. Otherwise it doesnt matter how long you are with them.

Why do some people expect reward for remaining with an SP for a certain period of time. Would you remain loyal if suddenly it became vastly cheaper to have your service elsewhere? I would assume not, so what is this loyalty you speak of? Surely you have only remain with them because what they offer you is of value?

I have seen a number of complaints about Vodacom only offering "free" incentives on the S5 for new clients. With MTN the free Samsung speaker incentive was offered to all equally on a first come first serve basis.

If your spend is big you are already getting cheaper rates than me anyway. If I heard you were getting additional freebies on top of this I would be peeved. So they'd make you happy but alienate everyone else.

Its called convenience, and some people like to remain loyal but from a monster corporate, loyalty needs to be rewarded. Like me for example, I will remain loyal even if it is cheaper elsewhere because in SA you pay for service, where its cheap or cheaper the service might not be grander, so my reason for wanting the reward is simply that they need to keep me happy to keep me as the service I have received thus far has been good with a good customer experience.

Rewarded for loyalty? Whaaat?

That's it, I've been with MTN for 16 years and it never even thought of claiming loyalty rewards! And now vodacom does? Disappointed man...Looks like I'll feel better getting my service from Vodacom from now on, they always give better specials in anycase.
