This morning I noticed "MTN-WiFi" in the top left corner status bar of my iPhone.
I suppose MTN finally supports iPhone for wifi calling?
Their website still shows it works on Android only.

They do and iPhone is now supported. But they're using it only for helping signal from their useless base stations.

They not giving you roaming capability because they might lose R50 from you and with MTN its about how much to rob :)

The option to enable Wi-Fi calling with MTN became available on the iPhone after the latest iOS update. Unfortunately, I haven't experienced it working despite enabling it. In contrast, my family members with Vodacom are successfully using VoWiFi For the past few years.

MTN had to enable wifi calling on two of my lines before it was working. Is seems on some lines it gets automatically provisioned and on others you must beg them to activate it.

I attempted to contact MTN to activate WiFi calling on their network. However, the process involved being transferred to multiple call agents, which took around 20 minutes. Eventually, I was asked to test WiFi calling by making a call with airplane mode and WiFi enabled. Unfortunately, this attempt proved unsuccessful, as a prompt indicated that airplane mode needed to be deactivated to place the call. It's possible that this issue is related to my current ISP, a smaller company called Ballito ISP Who may not be on the whitelist. However, I also observed that WiFi calling did not work on my friend's Vodacom fiber network either.

The reason I must stick with MTN is that they provide the best signal in my area. If I switch to another network, I may risk being left without a connection during times when WiFi is down.

When my current fiber contract ends, I suppose I could consider switching to Afrihost. However, doing so would require signing another contract and dealing with the hassle of releasing the fiber line, among other things.

Yes, I agree it is pointless trying to phone them and most of their shops are clueless.

I eventually got helped at their walk-in centre at the Menlyn shopping centre.

Luckily there are no contracts with Afrihost, and I can confirm that MTN Wi-Fi Calling works on their network.

It is an incredibly painful experience requesting anything from MTN other than their most basic services. I've posted about my issues a few times in the past.

I have the option enabled on my iPhone. But No MTN WiFi icon

You are correct; there is no contract attached to Afrihost. However, there is an installation fee of R1500 and the inconvenience of having the line changed.

Same on my iPhone, doesn’t show MTN WIFI.
What I did notice, when my phone reboots for a brief few seconds it shows MTN WIFI.

According to the Apple Support Page , VoWiFi calling is not supported on MTN

Only Vodacom and CellC has VoWiFi

eSim also not listed as supported on CellC and Telkom which is incorrect

Can confirm it works.
This is my iPhone making connections to "epdg.epc.mnc010.mcc655.pub.3gppnetwork.org"

Side note for all those that are interested. The hostnames for WiFi calling for all the major operators currently are:

epdg.epc.mnc001.mcc655.pub.3gppnetwork.org - Vodacom
epdg.epc.mnc002.mcc655.pub.3gppnetwork.org - Telkom
epdg.epc.mnc007.mcc655.pub.3gppnetwork.org - Cell-C
epdg.epc.mnc010.mcc655.pub.3gppnetwork.org - MTN

Does VoWiFi work for incoming calls also on MTN , Flight Mode with Wifi On ?
On my Vodacom line , i can only make out going calls

For VoWiFi to be active , you need to Cancel International Roaming on your sim.

I have zero cell signal at my house in the middle of JHB - thanks MTN. Somehow got them to activate this. Try their twitter DM/social team - took a while but after pleading with them they activated it and it works perfectly on my Afrihost fibre for incoming and outgoing calls as well as SMS's. Life saver

For some unknown reason , MTN is struggling to activate mine , I'm not sure if it's eSim related.
AfriGuy Afrigirl , is VoWiFi compatible with the Mobile Phone Afrihost APN ?

To clarify, even though Afrihost was the fiber provider, MTN still needed to activate Vowifi.

Works well on my Afrihost fibre connection at home

MTN is struggling to get my VoWifi working. They have escalated it.

I have 2 MTN sims, one a normal plastic sim and the other an Esim.

The normal sim when in airplane mode I can phone out but can’t receive calls.
The Esim I can do both.

Not in a mood calling those champions at the call center.
