I am due for a cell phone upgrade in January 2009 and I called MTN to see if there is a possibility that they could let me have the goodies a little earlier.

I know they sometimes do an upgrade a month or so earlier.

My average monthly MTN bill is R 1 000. Their answer to me about upgrading a little bit earlier: You're not a big enough client to consider doing this for.

Thanks MTN, for receiving my montly payment on time every month for the past 8 years, for making me feel so 'special'.

they generally give in if you threaten to move .. well they did for me anyways

If you were asking in November that would be considered a month or so earlier. Not August!

As far as i know most of the networks will do an uprgrade from 22 months into your contract. That means the earliest you should try is October/November.
