For the past week "We are currently experiencing high call volumes". Do they have 3 call centre staff?? I 've been in the queue for 1 hour, 48 minutes and 32 seconds!!!

Yeah they should change it to "We are ALWAYS experiencing high call volumes" I dont think i have ever called any call centre that has not played a similar message.

After two hours I hang up the call and re-dialled. I am on 44minutes now.

LOL I just spoke to them about 5 min ago, was on hold no more than 2 min....

Simlar posts on Hello Peter... I think I had a couple there a few months back aswell... MTNSP is honestly the worst company to deal with in SA.

Well ChillGirl I don't know what you are doing but I am still on hold 3 hours after I initially called them.

Was on the phone with them this morning. Didnt wait more then a minute.

Yip they're pretty useless. Worst call center ever. Worse than Telkom's call center back in the day when it was the worst call center around (they've improved tremendously lately).

I've also spent up to 2 hours on hold waiting for them, only for the stupidist most useless dumbass call center agent to answer, and provide absolutely no help.

Good luck. My sympathies are with you.

Well then they must be selectively blocking me, probably because I'm trying to confirm my cancellation. Seriously I don't know which numbers some of the other guys here phoned to get through immediately especially as it says "We are experiencing high call volumes". Was it the 808 number?

Or do you two work for MTN ;)

nope I dont work for them & yes it was 808........... wonders, LOL maybe there a stuff up on their call queing system. OUCH

I had the same problem you guys are having, the other day. had to call 5 times & hold 1 hour + then....... sigh

i used the 808 number too. I am on a corporate account - might be the difference.

I am so frustrated, yesterday at 16:45 I phoned, I kept on the line for well over 40 minutes to confirm my contract cancellation just to be told the contract cancellation department is only open from 08:00 to 17:00.

I was 15 minutes early but obviously because I was kept in the queue forever they closed :(

Vodacom also makes you wait, I don’t know if its for an hour as I usally give up after 20min. What’s worse however is that they make you listen to the same Toto song for that 20min with small breaks for the “recorded voice” to inform you of how important you are to them, how busy they are and other useful information.

In my opinion they should just change the lyrics to the song to inform the customer of what to expect from them. Here is my suggetion:

You’ll hear drums echoing tonight
But we hear only whispers of your quiet frustration
Be patient with all your might
The recorded voice does not guide you to salvation
Your heart will stop somewhere along the way,
Hoping to find some account info, not anchient melodies.
It will turn to you and say, Wait boy, Keep holding on for us.

CHORUS

We’re gonna take a lot of time away from you
There's nothing that a hundred men or more could ever do
Curse the service down in Africa
Can’t take any time to do the things you never have

Small babies cry out in the night
You’ll grow restless longing for our company
We know we must do what's right
As sure as Kilimanjaro rises like Olympus above the Serengeti
We don’t seek to cure what's inside, happy with this thing that we've become

CHORUS

Wait boy, Keep holding on for us.

We’re gonna take a lot of time away from you
There's nothing that a hundred men or more could ever do
Curse the service down in Africa, Curse the service down in Africa

Gee-whizz... and people ask me if I'm bored at work when I send a simple email. You really take the cake on this one.

Please make this into a viral video an upload to YouTube. Seems that may be the only thing that could wake them up - this has been going on for YEARS now and they're clearly loving every second.

4 days now trying to contact Vodacom Customer Care. So they are very busy and expect me to hold on until they get around to pick up the phone. However my tolerence for that song is becoming shorter and shorter. I find it impossible to hold on more than 10 min without loosing my mind.

MTN contract specials gave me a raw deal: two months ago i saw an advertisement on the news paper, mtn was offering a Nokia E63 for R99pm. I applied for the contract. I have waited for almost two months for mtn to call me. eventually they called me to say that the phone is no longer going for R99pm, it is currently going for R119. Shame on you MTN, Vodacom rocks.
