Hi guys

Seems like there is allot of new posts popping up so I would just like to reiterate this for the newer guys :)

I myself help with MTNSP issues you might have (In my personal capacity) and so does Dr Data. AFAIK Dr Data is from MTN group.

If you have any MTNSP queries pls feel free to PM me. I hardly stroll into this section much and thus I miss most of the posts. If you made a thread maybe just PM me a link. I have helped allot of people where I could and if not I referred it to the correct department.

I'll ask one of the Mods to maybe sticky this if need be.

I am new to the group and hope you can help.
Since late last week I have had a terrible time with my MTN connection dropping at random. This after about 18 months with no issues. I have noticed that there is all of a sudden a lot of switching between 3G and HSDPA, this while the signal strength indicator shows full on both. It seems that everytime it switches the connection drops and reconnects. I have set the card (E220) to 3G only, but this had no effect, as it kept on swithching. I stay in the Bellville area.

Do you know of anything I can do?

Hey....

So I've come on here to see if someone can tell me why my connection is so slow all of a sudden.? I'm with MTN and stay in Pretoria (Hatfield) and connect to the internet with my phone using a USB connection. Just over 2 weeks ago i was getting download speeds of about 1.6Mbps (min) 2.9Mbps (max) and basically a constant upload 0.3Mbps to the JHB server with a ping of about 250-350ms. Now, the last few days, it's been D: 0.10Mbps, U: 0.33Mbps and ping: 229ms

I tested it in Richards Bay (don't know why it says 50km) and this is what i got a week ago and got:

I've got up-to-date anti-virus and spyware protection and it's neither of those. Can somebody please tell me why my connection is so slow? I'm getting gatvol!

Now, 20min later on the same phone same everything i get this:

What's up with the instability??????
 
Why when i go to speedtest.net, and click on "My results", is there so many tests done with the same IP address as me if i didn't do them?
 
Greetings people, hey Pitbull can you sort me out here, please tell me can Mtn TopUp subscribers load Once Off data Bundles(exchange airitime for data?). If YES then how?

MTN Direct has the HTC dream for R100/pm. I ordered it from their site and the lady that contacted me claims that the phone IS network blocked because the phone is subsidized my MTN. I then phoned MTN direct (083123DOOR) and the guy I spoke to (sam) says that it is definitely NOT network blocked. What is the truth?

And if the phone is network blocked I read on mtn's site that apparently the charge to unlock in???
 
I went to some lengths to get an HTC Touch on my MTN contract. Finally got it , and it did not sync. Was told to go to HTC. I suggested this waas an oob failure, but then came a merry dance of download latest software, get a new cable, go back to HTC.
I had thought I could 'register' a potential OOB by emailing:

I am grateful to Dr D for escalating my complaint and putting someone senior in touch with me. Not sure we'll come to an agreement, but somebody id listening

And, Dr D did receive my complaint and pass it on initially, but made the mistake of thinking I had been sorted

I have an E620 MTN data card and had no problems using this with XP pro. I have now upgraded to Windows 7 and it doesn't work!!!

Please any suggestions?
 
Porting to New number when upgrading?

Im currently in month 22/23 of a MTN contract.

I want to upgrade, but want to use a vodacom number. the vodacom number is currently on prepaid.

Probably a driver compatibility issue, old data card not gelling with new program, pm Ginngs perhaps he has come across such a thing?

You would have to cancel the existing contract and start a new contract with the Voda number, its not possible for the system to do what you are requesting.

Crap, that is what my mind logically told me.
Will mtnsp cancel the contract now, and give me a new contract without charging me for it? Cause I don't feel like going through the nonsens to open a new contract again. It looks like its again "the computer say so" issue
