I just want to see that the unit works how I imagine .

I have a screen with two HDMI inputs - one to my Mac Mini & the other to my Windows office laptop.

Is it literally a case of pairing one of these multi device to Bluetooth on each machine, and then just swapping between the two PCs (work & private) ?
Are they all so expensive ? Seems like around R2k for a keybaord / mouse set

Yeah it's as simple as that, pairing with both devices.
I have the Logitech Keys Mini and MX Anywhere 3 and yeah it is expensive.

What's the difference with a UK and a US keyboard ?

Forgot Monday was a holiday ... but if I order now, NBD is Friday

I use that Dell mouse on a laptop running Linux/Windows, and on a Mac Mini. It works great and is quick to switch between the two.

For the keyboard, I use a Logitech K380 which can also switch between hardware with a button press. Nice and small, with decent keys.

The other thing you could do to make things easier and not worry about expensive keyboards and mice, is use a gadget like this:
