Multi Device Keyboard & Mouse

I am going 5 days ... :(

And not heard anything.

Took delivery just now, like the build quality, feels good also. First device I have bought that came with Duracell batteries in the box.

Going to play nicely when I get it home.

Strange tho, I ordered from Dell Online, then First Technolgy e-mailed me, and it was shipped from Tarsus ... , not that it matters, really.

I got what I ordered. :)

It's actually really awesome .

I've used cheap Logitech my whole life and didn't realize spending a bit more on a keyboard could yield such a result. I think they're doing a great price too, as Takealot was R1.8k or something when I checked

Got a Logitech G110 keyboard, not exactly cheap, but the keys need to be pressed just right, or they feel all gritty, and sometimes don't "press"

My daughter is rough on keyboards but she hammers them 12-14 hours a day. When asked, she says the Dell Keyboards last longest. So went looking for a Dell.

Got mine for R1.4

The other thing you could do to make things easier and not worry about expensive keyboards and mice, is use a gadget like this:
Nice. I need something like this, except that first review worries me, that would be a deal breaker.

I am using this device to share a monitor, keyboard and mouse between 2 Ubuntu 22.04 computers. The device works quite well accept for key strokes including Ctrl+Shift. As an example: In a word processor or text editor I cannot select an entire word by pressing Ctrl+Shift+Right or find text in any file in a project in an IDE such as IntelliJ Idea by using Ctrl+Shift+F.

Hmmmm. I hadn't noticed that.

Wootware also has a few D-link ones which are a bit more expensive:
but at least on paper it looks better than the UGreen.

I haven't bought or tested any of these though. I'm currently playing with the idea, if I do I'll report back.

I've gone ahead and ordered this D-Link one

So I quickly plugged this in, and it works with the USB

I actually have a mini USB hub that my keyboard and mouse in plugged into, that I have now plugged into one of the KVM inputs, and am able to switch control between my desktop and notebook.

I also tested 4key roll over - Ctrl, Alt, Shift, P - works perfectly.

HDMI is not working, though. I will switch to the primary HDMI port on my monitor tomorrow to try it out again, just need to undo a bunch of cable management to get access.

No luck with the HDMI.

Will take the switch to my office tomorrow and try it on a 1080p 24”, just to see

That kind of defeats the point of a KVM switch! Sounds like you need to initiate a return.
Fortunately Wootware is pretty good with that kind of thing.

Yeah, kind of need to find another one, but not a super common device, it seems.

But it has been quite pleasant to switch between PC's using a keyboard shortcut, and then switching the monitor input using its remote (I just wish the Samsung remote had an instant "input switch", instead of have to bring up the OSD, then select inputs, and then select the input you want to use)

Going slightly off topic here....the huawei mate 34" have a usb c data port.
Does that mean I can connect the keyboard and mouse to it, to be used as a KVM (I know some monitors have this feature) or is it simply to connect a USB c monitor?

Would be interesting to find out.

So this did work on the 1080p monitor.

KVM specs does say it supports 4K@60

So I think the issue is on my monitor side. I’ll actually try it on my 4K TV later.

Didn’t work on my LG CX (HDMI1)

Did also then work on my wife’s 1080p.

I will just keep it, as it works great as the USB KVM, and I’ll just live with using HDMI1 and HDMI2 on the monitor - 2 buttons instead of 1.

Pity. Sorry about that.

@Dolby how long do the batteries last on average and is it rechargable. I've always wanted to get a Dell Mouse and Keyboard as I LOVE the keyboard on my Precision. Would have hoped for backlit though, but not a trainsmash if the letters are pure white.

I just find with my Xiaomi and HP and Rapoo wireless mouse that the batteries dont last long and it is getting expensive to keep on replacing.

Could you mauybe give a bit of a review, model number and pro's and con's. Cheers!
