I'm using an SMS gateway that limits SMS messages to 160 chars. It's going to be a month of Sundays trimming down all my messages to 160 chars, so I'd like to break the messages up into 160 parts, but then the recipient will get several SMS's, unlike when I get an SMS longer than 160 chars as one message.

Is there a way to signal to tp the receiving phone that a group of messages are meant to be joined and treated as one message?

I just tested WinSMS and the desktop client supports multipart smses (It appears as one sms even if it is more than 160 chars). Never used this software before, but maybe give it a bash. Really not to sure how their SMS prices compare to others. Hope this helps you :)

ProfK - which SMS gateway are you using? How are you communicating with the gateway? Via its API, webservice, email, HTTP, SMTP, Web application, FTP or desktop application?

I'm using our in-house gateway, and sending SMS via a web service. A colleague mentioned he gets his long SMS split into many SMS if he uses a straight HTTP post from ColdFusion (can't it do web services?), but they arrive at the recipient as many SMS's.
