MultiChoice buys emergency response app Namola

MultiChoice has acquired the on-demand emergency response app Namola.

“Namola is part of our strategy to expand our ecosystem beyond entertainment and to offer a suite of consumer services that meet the needs of our customers,” said MultiChoice South Africa CEO Nyiko Shiburi.

Namola works brilliantly but perhaps now it's time to find something else....

I also use Namola. So when can we expect a subscription increase?

Yes, I've read the article :p

Such an app (that has nationwide focus/coverage) probably doesn't exist yet.

This opportunity could be some lucky big break for forumite(s)?

Dammit, the first sign of Multichoice shenanigans and I'm cancelling.

They will probably split it up into R99 for access to telephonic support only, R149 for police service, R259 for all services, but only in a predefined area, R499 for access to all services all over South Africa. Then another R49 for each family member you want to add to your plan.

Over the following 5 years, they will add in access to useless services like "emergency window cleaning" or "tyre inflation service" and then jack up the prices claiming that they have to in order to support all the "value added services" they provide, and there is no way for them to offer a plan without those useless services.

I am suddenly getting this irritating namola popup on my non-internet-connected/enabled Samsung TV! Is there a way to totally destroy this pop-up on the Samsung DSTV screen?

Getting this on my mom's HiSense TV too, but it's coming via the decoder input. :(
