Universal+ streaming service launches for free on DStv in South Africa

NBCUniversal and DStv today have announced that the Universal+ video streaming service will be available to DStv subscribers in South Africa and the rest of Sub-Saharan Africa next month.

From 14 October 2022, subscribers will be able to access Universal+ via Catch Up on the DStv app or on the Explora Ultra decoder.

Wow amazing.

Cant wait to stream universal on a decoder with the speed of a snail, Windows 3.1 Ui, No voice or smartphone keyboard typing.

This is similar to all those artists from nineteen voetsek that have concerts in SA just to boost their retirement funds. Why can't we get proper 1st world offerings like other countries? (I know the answer, just ranting a bit)

App streaming still 1 for one person so more content one does not get to watch when they want.
Unless watching catch-up content is more than one? Haven't tried that.

Does it not occur to DStv that the Explora software platform is trash in the current form? it cannot be a streaming device only a basic set top box.

How is anyone supposed to type anything with that terrible remote? Search seems that it is not pre-indexed at all?

Takes 5 minutes to run it each time.
No voice commands.

Just give up and slap some android TV software on the Explora with a dstv flavour and call it a day.

So, universal are entering the market with a DSTv partnership rather than as a standalone service?

Every production house wants to have their own streaming service, when does it start to become a joke

Who will be the next Steve Jobs to convince everyone to subscribe to a single platform and drop their prices to a mere dollar

I know the answer to that. We're not first world. :crying:

Just convinced me to stick to the high seas....

Lol... you should try streaming anywhere in the United States.... an even worse abortion. Hell, even their Dish use this in their adverts when promoting it promising you will say good bye to buffering and properly watching TV. That being said, on the other hand America is not a first world country anymore.
