MultiChoice gets Dolby Atmos production studio

MultiChoice has announced that it recently completed the installation of its Dolby Atmos-enabled production suite, located at its broadcast centre in Randburg.

It is the first Dolby Atmos-enabled suite built by the broadcaster, and the DStv owner said it can now package movies and series for international broadcasters that require Atmos-ready content.

*Only if you have the “Explora 4000-AB model” at every single tv in your house.

You also need 4 cables again for each decoder instead of 1 because we said so, oh and a new LNB.

PS: It might just lose heartbeat 20 times a day.

Do i also need to be on the premium package with a "locked Price" for the next 36 months? Also do i need to pay an additional R210pm per device to enable dolby atmos?

Indeed! If you price lock we give you dolby for free with premium but you still pay the PVR access fee.

Otherwise a “Dolby access fee” is only R210 extra per decoder ontop of your PVR Access fee on month to month.

Don’t forget about decoder insurance!

Also they do not guarantee an Atmos signal, you are merely paying for the privilege of being able to possibly receive Atmos content if they deem it viable to broadcast it for that 1 show a month.
 
Dolby Atmos in the toolchain died in 2018. They should be talking about immersive audio and render into atmos, dts or w.h.y. Multichoice cannot even get sound basics right, nvm atmos.

Erm... Then your goals are up yer bum. Plenty other innovations you should rather be blowing your cash wads on.

I honestly think Mulitchoice just gave up years ago It cannot be that someone actually tries.

They probably have all these internship programs pay employees next to nothing and call it a day.

It spans from the guy that write software to the guy that has to upload a simple program on CatchUp every single implementation has been mediocre as far as I can remember.

An Mnet show might be uploaded in seconds after airing or it might be uploaded 2 weeks later defeating the purpose of Catchup.
Nobody can tell you why.
 
I just want dstv to stream in 4K. No HDR no Atmos just 4K. Article last year on MyBroadband said it should come this year. So fingers crossed. As for atmos, why even start with atmos. Atmos is so tricky to obtain and expensive. 4K on the other hand you just need a 4K tv :)

Not sure if anyone taught you numbers, but you must understand that if there are millions of viewers it would follow they'd be the people likely to be the majority owners of such devices. Some of them would anyway. More than all the nerds on mybb for sure.
