MultiChoice not blocking Netflix, video streaming in SA

Netflix isn't a good example - it's common knowledge that they have to pay a GIGANTIC premium to get their content, because all the broadcasters are scared of them. Reed Hastings said he'd give HBO a blank cheque for Game of Thrones, but HBO said no.

Netflix caters for the lucrative North American market. Of course they will want to milk that. Netflix Cambodia or Burma, if such a service existed, would have their episodes screened for much much less. Heck knowing how not popular that Western stuff is they may even give it away for free or in package deals. SA has a huge third world black market. GoT is mainly a show with whites about white (Western) fantasy. That sort of stuff should sell cheaper here, except we still have a significant white Western presence.

Netflix is in quite a few countries now - is it cheaper in those countries? It's quite easy to check up on your theory.

I use GoT as an example of any of the current, popular series; they're hugely popular on DSTV, and judging by the content on Vidi, that's exactly the market which they're after.
