MultiChoice to remove some DSTV iTV services

"According to MultiChoice these interactive services are underutilized and discontinuing them will provide the pay-TV provider with the necessary bandwidth to launch other services and products."

How can they be so sure about this? Did they do an internal survey on their staff again and came to this conclusion?

If you can't get them to work on the HD PVR just discontinue them ... problem solved! They are under utilised because you can't use them on the HD PVR!

A few of those services were "free to try". Then you had to send a premium rated SMS to continue using the service. Obviously users aren't as stupid as Monochoice assumed (who's really going to pay R10 for 24 hours of use of an outdated game), and the services were running at a loss, so they got axed.

No loss to me, I never used those services. (Couldn't use them since I "upgraded" to the worst HDPVR on earth.)

Drop those kiddy pay games, damn when I was young it was free but now you have pay R5 just to past the 1st Level and only last a day.

I have always been surprized that they kept persisting with these games to begin with. To me it makes no sense since much better [and more fun] options are easily found in the obvious PlayStation/Wii type consoles.

all i will miss is the poker channel. why dont they just make it a normal channel.

i've seen some games while scrolling throught the menus, but nothing of interest. but i guess it would be even less interesting if i had to pay to play...

isn't the R500pm from me sufficient to cover all their costs?

I know a few farmers and all of them love teletrack!

They are going to be so upset when they flick to teletrack and a new kids channel has taken its place.

We pay for all these channels whether we watch them or not! This sounds like a load shedding service :P

With the amounth of repeats on DSTV, can't they fit all programs into 5-10 channels of mixed content anyway? They could easily combine some of the entertainment and science channels.

An still the subscription fee went up.

No use complaining though - what else is there to choose apart from DStv?

And MC knows that.

The only interactive channel that made sense was the super sport channels? I guess they will stay.

Maybe we will get widescreen on S2 - S7 channels, or maybe the series channel in widescreen with 5.1 sound.

A person can only hope and dream. :o
