“The group will continue its efforts to drive growth in focused areas, notably Showmax, Moment, SuperSportBet, DStv Insurance, DStv Internet, and DStv Stream.”

If this is what they are counting on for growth, there really is no hope for them.

I'm not 100% sure what the details of all of these products are, and had to look up what Moment and DStv Insurance even where, so I probably don't have as much investor insight to prophesize the future, but -

1. DStv insurance looks like a product for insuring your DStv decoder. People are moving away from DStv, and especially from decoders, so this seems like a dead product

2. DStv Internet ... nobody has anything good to say about DStv, so why would they choose DStv as their ISP when there are so many other better options. The people you are likely to sell to are existing DStv customers by offering them some sort of bundle with their subscription. There is no new market growth here.

3. DStv Stream I'm guessing is just as overpriced as normal DStv while offering the same product, so unlikely to attract new people. The decoder and dish aren't the problem, the price and terrible content is.

4. SuperSportBet, no idea, I guess it is the most likely to succeed, because nothing says Good Company Values like preying on gambling addicts. Totally inline with the DStv brand and them milking sports fanatics with SuperSport.

5. Moment is some sort of payment system for Africa. No idea why they think they would be any better at this than the solutions that already exist. In fact, if I'm not mistaken, DStv have had a history of screwing up payment processing and double billing people regularly. Plus your growth potential is limited to getting other companies on board, and having them in turn actually getting customers paying through the payment processor, so I don't see this bringing any sort of financial windfall.

6. Showmax is probably the only thing that will survive in the end given their focus on local/African content.

Many viewers express dissatisfaction with the requirement to subscribe to all 20+ channels, even if they only want to watch a couple of sports channels.
Okay but Sky sports gives you 9 channels for R800.
