MultiChoice's Showmax blunder

Not a great take imo.

Comparing Showmax to half-baked platforms like TelkomONE, Cell C Black, MTN Vu etc. is a bit of a false equivalence. The blunder wasn't trying to dominate streaming - streaming is clearly the future. The issue was that Multichoice ran out of runway, and Canal+ doesn't have the stomach to fund the rest of that J-curve (spend big before you earn big).

If previous management made an epic blunder, imo it was branching off into Showmax rather than doubling down on DStv. Confusing customers with DStv, DStv Stream and Showmax was silly. Because they were so terrified of cannibalising high satellite margins and refusing to cut costs, they made what was already a tricky needle to thread borderline impossible.

That is what you get.
But he still got his bonuses and millions in Salary.
He should pay back the MONEY.
 
there was a ****up...yes...you dont have to remind us everyday all day...when does this subscription run out?
