Would just like to know, is it possible to use two adsl accounts (e.g mweb 3g and ayce). Would you have to disconnect and reconnect everytime you need to use a different isp or can you change while still connected(because its always on).

Thanx

yes, you have to disconnect, change the username and password and reconnect

just out of curiosity - why would you want to own a mweb 3gb account if you have an ayce 30gb?

Then why not get the r70 email only account. Still gives you a few hours a month via dialup should you need it.

Thats what I did - not for the email addy but for the iPass. With all the free email possibilities as well as the low cost of having a personal email address it doesnt make sense to keep the mweb address.

Its like not moving into a new house because you dont want to let ppl know your new address. :)

Do you mean that M-web select? Problem is, we cant downgrade our subscription to that and keep the addys :(

We already have our own domain and e-mail addresses, but my dad is just taking his time to let his clients know

Not sure what its called but I downgraded my 3gb ADSL to that, set up an auto forward from airmail and an local auto-responder informing ppl of my new address. Within a month everyone had figured out I had a new address - apart from the spammers.

If I could find a cheaper way to access iPass I'd ditch mweb tomorrow.

Just insist on it and they'll eventually do it.

Ta

All of the above are noobs.. you can use 2 accounts at the same time. You just have to setup your windows maps that it use e.g.

account 1 - IP 165.165.x.x, 192.25.x.x etc.
account 2 - rest of the internet, etc

yes u can do it, there are lotsa ways to do it

easiest option would be to setup 2 WAN mini port "dial up" PPPOE connections and just enter use it that way.

Is it possible to have one account for surfing the web and another account for downloading? I have PVC adaptors on my modem but can't seem to get them to work. Only the account i have set up on PVC0 works.

Anyone know how to do what i am trying to do?

It's possible to be connected to 2 isps at the same time if you use RASPPPOE. The problem is that as soon as you connect to the 2nd isp all traffic will be routed through this 'new' connection unless you set up your IP routing tables. See link below for info on a utility that allows you to route local traffic through one account and international through another, which is very useful if you download a lot from the local IS news server.

Easiest way would be to create two PPPOE connections using RASPPPOE and then setting up routing tables for each.

edit: Posted at the same time as ant1body refer above.

You will also need something like netlimiter to allocate the bandwith otherwise the connection you use for downloading may hog all your bandwith....remember you are still limited to whatever your line speed is no matter how manny accounts you have running at once.

To achieve this you need to do policy based routing at the protocol level (i.e. for http/https route via PPPoE #1 while all other traffic (default route) via PPPoE #2).

Cant say I've seen anything to do this on WinXP, however easily achieved (if you know how) on Linux/FreeBSD (or Cisco router for that matter).
