Multiple complaints about stolen Uber Eats orders

We've cut down drastically, I started ordering online or phoning in, and then collecting myself - as you say, it's 60% of the cost of a delivery without all the drama e.g. cold food, driver error etc.

Don't forget to tip.

I'm surprised people are still using Uber eats. It's gone from being a worthwhile convenience fee to total rip off. All in (item mark up, delivery fees, tip) it's like double the price of just fetching the items yourself. No thanks.
Yes, the markup is insane. If you want more than one item then it becomes stupid to order via them.

My issue is the lack of support in app. There is no way to chat to them and just work though a problem.

We were coming back late the other night and I wanted to order food so that it would be ready when we home. I put my home address in (where we always get stuff) and then only showed me places close to my current location...
Then I searched for a place close to home and it let me place the order but canceled everything right at the end because it said they don't deliver to my area (2km away)
It then wiped the entire order and made me start again.

Then there was no "help" or message the restaurant - just FOD.

We have just figured out our favorite places and then order direct.

No one else has group orders....

100% agree - haven't used them for a couple of years now as they almost every time messed up my order any way

Experienced this once, actually my daughter.

Tracking the driver, which we always do, he came virtually 25m from our gate, a private house with full CCTV, and drove off.

Credit eventually given and now she needs to give a code to the driver/delivery guy as proof of receipt.

This is SA and 60% of SA citizens are either criminals or support and vote for criminals.

There is no culture, standards or ethics in SA in general.

Yeah where is the rest of the video showing how long the driver stood there before he decided to leave and after he left how long she took to come out?
I see this in the estate daily. They phone you at gate when driver is there. But people do not come out to their driveways and leave the drivers standing there for 5-20min.
Bunch of entitled idiots that think the whole world must wait for them.
Hope the driver enjoyed his pizza to cover his costs.
I'm often thanked for being at the gate timeously by drivers from Mr D, Checkers and Uber Eats. And I'm not even monitoring the apps - just reacting to the notifications about the driver being around the corner. Makes me think most people are real a**holes if they're happy to screw these poor dudes trying to scrape a living together on R10 tips.

It's time UberEats and MrD Food allows the delivery guys to rate their customers too.

We'll quickly know whether those who "virally" complain are actually Karens.

That would be kinda awesome. Maybe the first penalty could be restricting you to a small radius of restaurants. After that, collect only.

Following that, there'll be "viral" complaints reading: "I'm vegan and disabled: my Uber guy flirted with me and I shut him down, now I can only order from Chicken Licken."

I voted with my feet - I phone, then collect - no more cold unappettising food.

Literally, with your feet.

From my Flat, down the stairway [ 4 Floors ] to my car, where they operate the clutch, brakes and accelerator, to the establishment making my order, from the car into the establishment, collect and pay for my order, after checking that it is in order, the route is reveresed, feet in action all the way.

Not worthwhile using these services. 2 much markup. Too much theft

Mr D*ck driver stole my lamb bunny last week. They say he was at the location and apparently have chats with me about the delivery of the food, I asked them to provide me with the chats and then radio silence so we called and gave them an ear full and the money was credited.

PS: We live in a free standing house, no complex, no boomed off area niks, wife was outside with the kids. She saw no one approach the gates.

And the food is cold. :crying:
Indeed.

I have a few regular places I order food. Simply Asia has an app and I just order there and then go pick up down the road.

There is also another Asian place down the road from me and I just order for collection from Mr D.

Pizza I'll go collect myself too, nobody wants a cold pizza (unless it's been in your fridge from the day before).

This is how it happened to us. After the third time- after doing a full investigation with the restaurant we found that they collect the food and then disappear with it, telling the app on their end they delivered but they never did.

Camera footage showed the dude never came near our address. Also the restaurant staff say that they regarded the driver as suspicious.

After that, uninstalled the app and left it as that.

After reading all of this I'm not surprised the fees are so high lol.
They need to pay back customers for the food their staff is stealing.

Another service about to pull out?

Thinking about it more, I wonder if it's mostly starving drivers or just poese?
It must be pretty dreadful delivering Pizza or KFC on an empty belly with that smell. And millions go hungry here every day.
