Municipal Strike turns ugly.

Yesterday I was overlooking the march from my office as they came down Mirriam Makeba (Spelling?) turning into Market Street in Johannesburg CBD. Everywhere they went rubbish bins were rolled into the street, rubbish kicked around and the bin just left there. When I walked to the parking garage, I counted 3 new bins that were destroyed. That's in a space of 100 meters.

Most people find it idiotic because the morons will just have to clean it up again when they get back to working for a change. What gets me is that it's costing ME, the taxpayer, money. Not only do I have to pay a day's wages for that idiot to pick up the mess he made, but the bins need to be replaced as well now. (The new bins arent as solid as the old ones here in JHB).

Every day I see moronic activities like this, or read about stupidity in the news, I start caring less and less for these people. Why should I bother to extend my hand, if that is the bull**** I get in return?

Hope it is on during the world cup so that the world can see the true colors of the so called "rainbow nation" . The whole world think whites are the evils in SA and the blacks are so wonderfull!
 
Also, just for the record, this isn't a racist thing so Master Cain and hsmnel can leave. Wherever you go in the world stikes generally turn into unruly, destructive mobs.

And Mila, I had no idea this was an illegal strike.

Yes,, the same morons who every Christmas come knocking on my door asking for a Christmas gift/bonus for cleaning so nicely during the year. They better not come knocking this year!

Unfortunately, the mess is in the cities. Are there any garbage being thrown around by striking municipal workers in the townships or is it only in the towns and city centres?

How's it looking today Corne ?... was hoping to enjoy a couple of bitterly cold SAB products in Newtown this afternoon. Not coming close of those fskrs are carrying on the way they did yesterday

True. I am racist. This affects me too. In the little rural villiage where i live, they also littered the streets.
As i am also affected, i am positive that i may contribute.
In the old South Africa stuff like this did not happen.

For the moment it's quiet. I don't think there will be march again today. The only one we saw was yesterday.

:erm: No, in the old days, entire townships were revolting against apartheid! People were fighting for their freedom, not their wages.

And yes, strikes turn violent all over the world - Canada and the US included.

Why do you have to turn every thread into a race issue Master Cain?

Please stop comparing strikes overseas to strikes here. The frequency of strike actions and the destruction caused exceeds ANY other country. And no, I don't have a source. It's just obvious.

They earn the same as I do, and I have a B.Sc behind my name and a couple of years' worth of experience. Oh, and I don't get their benefits...

They need to stop using rubber bullets and start using real ones.

That and tell the poor workers that their salaries are being spent on Mercedes-Benzes for their bosses, and if they have a problem with that they should take it up with management and not vote ANC next time.
 
This is Africa. They'll be smashing up vehicles and burning shops anyway regardless of salary, gauvament, services etc. There's a reason why in primarily black areas, the streets are littered with trash, windows broken, cars smashed up and no services, potholes, land stripped of trees, shooting and pillaging. Its the way of the black African. They know it, we know it so lets cut the bull**** its not about salary.

I love it how people pull the "but they do it overseas as well" card everytime this topic arises. The point is that WE that LIVE HERE do not whant this kind of crap.

It takes a special person to destroy property like this. It takes a REALLY special person that actually tries to justify it...
