Municipalities should privatise these services ... I'd HAPPILY charge them the same the same amount they're currently paying. The job will be done twice as fast with a quarter of the staff.

The first day of the strike, I drove to a mate's place in Boksburg North and went passed about 10 officers scattered across the CBD at 7pm at night. Asked my mate if it had to do with the strikers and he said yes, because they'd burned down the local fire department for the hell of it. This is on top of the atrocious state that they left the CBD in - it was absolutely disgusting, to the point that you couldn't drive down the streets safely because of all the rubbish they'd strewn across the roads. Well fscking done, you bunch of morons...
I'm quite sure it would. Somewhat like having your car stoned from a bridge. Insurance does cover it as long as you open a case of vandalism against the perpetrators.
The unions need to take responsibility for their members - they're the ones instigating the strikes, they're the ones negotiating on their behalf, they're the ones responsible for ensuring that their members act legally etc etc. The municipalities need to bill the unions for damage to property due to strike action - watch how well behaved they become once that becomes standard practice...
Pretty sure I've seen something in the policy documentation - I'll check.
Not sure how they would differentiate this from ordinary vandalism? Change insurers if they're willing to exclude payment on that basis imo. Will also have a chat with my broker about it - for all I know I might have the same clause in my agreement. Not sure why mass action would be different...

And they want us to have sympathy for their cause? Not a chance. Every time the do this I have less respect for this lot. Similar nonsense in Joburg yesterday. Driving down Symonds into the CBD this morning, there was a carpet of garbage all over the road

Isn't this strike still an unprotected strike, well then fire the whole lot of them, oh and make them eat their mess they made on their way home.

When you have a President with 20 children setting an example it sets a poor example for the illiterate, uneducated man on the street. They forget that it's perfectly alright to have 20 children when you have a herd of cattle to match - they don't have herds anymore. Logic seems to defy these people. I feel sorry for them & their illusions of grandeur. No amount of OUR ( as white people, not racists) logic will help them until they have TRUE leadership that will guide them out of the dark ages.

The Unions are threatening legal action here in the Eastern Cape because of police brutality. They reckon that it's alright to litter in public (they dumped truckloads of rubbish at a busy intersection in Mdantsane [2nd biggest township is SA after Soweto], halting traffic), destroy private property (tipped hawkers' goods all over the pavement), and threaten the public with violence. The police are being "brutal" by firing upon them with rubber bullets and stun grenades? I think they should have a taste of Mugabe's policing to remind them which continent they live on!

Yesterday those municipal workers (at Bhisho) that were not participating in the strike were physically ejected from the municipal offices by angry strikers. Those not on strike belong to another Union & their Union is not on strike.
Today they have been told, once again, to leave the premises before they are physically removed.

Those strikes in France were caused by 1st and 2nd generation Frenchmen ie immigrants or children of immigrants. You don't see ethnic French doing this sort of thing - not since the 50s or earlier.
