Please stop comparing strikes overseas to strikes here. The frequency of strike actions and the destruction caused exceeds ANY other country. And no, I don't have a source. It's just obvious.

Our lot seem to have no ambition compared to some riots and strikes overseas.

I love it how people pull the "but they do it overseas as well" card everytime this topic arises. The point is that WE that LIVE HERE do not whant this kind of crap.

It takes a special person to destroy property like this. It takes a REALLY special person that actually tries to justify it...

Please. You're quoting the 2005 civil unrest in France? And The 2007 one? That **** happens here weekly. We're actually used to it, you hear stike, and you know to stay away from city centers or risk your vehicle being trashed. I'm surprised that this actually makes the news here. Burning schools, trains, everything.

That is what the Municipality said on Monday morning. They were on Morning live and they said it's illegal and the Union guys just said they do not care, it will go on indefinately.

The union is being nasty. It sounded like the government gave them a fair chance and they declined.


Oke as I remember it the Government guy said that since 2002 the union has been demanding this and they said it’s fine and all worker should them be assesed according to their position and work and then they will up the people’s pay if it was too low.
The union declined.
The government guy said they have been in talks again for months now about this again. And the union refuses to have the members assessed.
So that means the Union has no basis to claim the workers are under paid.

The union just said screw that we will be striking.

So sorry I feel shoot the fuskers. They do not want to be assessed cause then the muni will see the under skilled people they pay and probably corruption too.

Dude, why do you think people turn it into a racial issue? Yesterday I looked out and saw a mass of black people, spreading chaos. Not even a single white guy that got lost on his shopping trip in the crowd was in that mob. Agreed, generalization is a sucky thing to do, but unfortunately that is the perception that is being put out there whenever people do this kind of thing.

Logistically, it is possible to fill all those positions quickly with temporary employees while they conduct interviews for permanent placements.

Many municipal workers did not go to work today (some did not participate in the strike at all) because they were threatened with bodily harm if they went to work. The strikers have been given until Monday to return to work or they will be fired.

I just hope the guavament stick to the point they have been. You can get a pay raise if you go through our assessment and we know you are under your pay grade.
