Municipal workers join strike

Ok well, now its getting ridiculous........teachers and nurses etc, them I can still understand to a degree, but the SAMWU lot? The only way they would notice the difference is the fact that strike and work are spelled differently.................

With the current umemployment rate one would think that somewhere along the line these strikers would be appreciative of having a regular income. Imagine what this Country would turn into if all the unemployed folk went on the rampage and demanded jobs.
Strikes/blackmail - its the same thing :mad:
 
Fair Market system. Employees should have the right to offer their labour and withhold it when they desire. Employers should have the right to hire their labour and lay them off when they desire.

The "protected strike" system is nothing less than socialist blackmail sanctioned by the government.

Yeah, but it's not a protected strike for the Municipal Workers - they should just be fired !

Maybe we should just import Malawian workers, they are friendly and they won't strike !
 
how is it that the workers in WC arent striking? (or i just havent heard that they are on strike) do they get paid by WC or by Gauvment. Do they have the same pay or do they have more common sense?

that is fine by me. Fire them and hire some people who are willing to work... and work hard.
 
Phew lucky they picked up our garbage this morning ( + I get exercise fetching it since they drop the bin down the road).

So a meager 1.6% difference won't suffice, they'd still rather disrupt essential services, let babies die and matric fail their year, and essentially their entire future?
 
January is going to be fun, all the matrics who failed are going to run around blaming the strike and the ANCYL will be all up in it

If I were a matriculant, I'd just consider this as my gap year.

Matrics that fail has nothing to do with the strike. If by this time of the year you do not know 30% of the work you are not going to get it.

What of the other 70% you need in order to have half a chance at surviving university? I've seen so many people get a free entrance into varsity and fall right back out 6 months later because of the pathetic 'teaching' they recieved at high school.

They did not get it the rest of the year. These last 60 days is not going to make them get it.
These last few weeks are dedicated to revision.

Your generalisation is poor. I studied a few days before each exam and still clocked a decent average. It depends entirely on the ability of the person and their capacity to learn.

So you would have failed if you did not study?

The only reason I studied ( on my own no teacher involved ) was because i wanted an A not a c.

My generalisation goes like: if you listened in class. Studied for the first 3 quaters you will not fail grade 12. The last quater was spent on revision.

If you had failed grade 12 maths the whole year. These last 60 days in a "government" school. ( The parents blamed them for the failure rate last year so lets blame them now too) will not help you pass now. The ship has sailed. Unless your parents has money for extra classes and tutors.

It will not be the strike's fualt you failed. Just yourself.

You get what i'm saying?

I do get what you're saying, but my point is that you cannot assign a fixed amount of time to every individual. Some people require more time and attention than others.

And their time was up. More they were not going to get strike or no strike.
