Hey guys....

I'm looking for an App to manage my music collection on my pc.

It should be something similar to how Ember Media Manager works... Meaning it should get the correct names of the album and tracks. As well as downloading the album art.

I've quite a huge collection which I want to get sorted out now.

Thanx in advance guys

I recently embarked on the same. Musicbrainz picard can look up or scan track to find/save the correct info to the tags. It can also rename tracks...

Ok have that installed and guess I need to play with it a bit to understand what it can do....

Don't see it downloading album art though

I'm not sure if MediaMonkey can do everything that you mentioned, but that is what I have been using for years now. It does support auto-tag from the web, or from the filename. Not sure about album art.

OK thanx guys...

So MediaMonkey is the app to rename and tag my music..

I have found Album Art Downloader to download the art for me...

Mediamonkey also does a good job of downloading album art. Just a couple of tips to speed up your learning curve and avoid losing all your hard work:

- When you remove songs from your library it is also possible to accidentally delete them all from your hard drive at the same time. Look at the options in the pop-up box whenever you delete something to make sure that you are doing the right thing.
- A lot of your changes to the tags can be stored in Mediamonkey itself and not the files you think you are editing. Obviously this means that after a lot of hard work not all of it will be apparent when you play the files on other software. Make sure that you synchronise tags after editing so that everything is written to the files.

If your music collection is a real mess then you can use Musicbrainz Picard to do the initial automatic tagging of the files and then Mediamonkey to do the fine tuning.

Ok have that installed and guess I need to play with it a bit to understand what it can do....

Works pretty well once you figure it out. I plan on getting the tags sorted first and later worry about album art.
