Musica shuts down

Oh man, remember the old days when your mum went shopping and you'd stand by the headphone booths and listen to random music
Musica had that?

I remember look and listen had those.
Never seen a Musica that offered the same.

A lot did, though I do miss those days. We had a couple of big phase 2 CDs at Cresta and Clearwater mall. Then there was a big Look and Listen at Fourways Crossing. Man walking through the rows of VHS, DVDs and CDs it was something.
Then the last couple of years they all closed down and Musica was the last stalwart, but it's selection dwindled. The problem with a digital age, everyone is happy to stream but they will never own it.
Busy watching my Angel series on DVD, it is odd I will say to wait for the disc to spin up after a long pause.

Next up:

BT Games
Game 4 U
Yep, I remember waiting in a massive queue at a BT Games for midnight to collect my Wrath of the Lich King expansion and it was kind of fun in a nerdy way. Unfortunately hard copies of games isn't really a thing anymore. A lot of laptops don't even have a disc player in them these days.

The Look & Listen in Clearwater mall had one of those - I remember hearing System of a Down for the first time in there. Good times.

Bought plenty a CD there too, they generally had the best selection of music IMO

The big one there was pretty cool

Pitty, they could have been the home automation hub of SA with their footprint, they already sold google products but staff had no idea what it was.

They sat on gold
Exactly this.
Myself, and many others tried for a long time to get them to embrace digital change, and implement logical future-proof plans. But the dum dums ran the system into the ground. Probably one of the biggest wastes in SA history. They could have been such a dominant force.

Yeah they could have been south africa's central app for music .... but hey... cd's are good too xD

I have bought so many Christmas and Birthday presents at Musica. The last family birthday, I found myself walking still to Musica CW. My ritual now more. many fond memories, unfortunately, they did not (or left too late)move with technology.
