Look it was a decent product, but there is better now for the price.
The problem is their drivers, they don't update them often, and I run Win7 x64 and it would BSOD my PC - I could create the problem at will and 6/10 times it would BSOD. It would also do other odd things that I don't get into here in detail, basically after a while, even during GAMES it would start sounding like a ring modulator, no matter what I did, until I reset the PC or unplugged the USB cable etc;
I sent it for a full refund (always check your warranty period!) and out of frustration I surfed Gumtree and saw my dream soundcard for R5k second hand

They go for R14-17k new. I am a very happy man, RME have amazing drivers, this card is quiteold but they are still adding new features and improving, the drivers are rock solid and this thing is a beast.
Obviously I'm very lucky, I'd never afford it new - but you can do far better for R2000-3000 than M-Audio.
Remember that your audio interface is the last thing in your signal path when recording, you want to have good pre amps and converters. You want to have stable drivers, low latency and support from a vendor. With Windows 8 (or if you run OSX) - updated OS's are a factor here.
